- On April 2, 2008, Laura received a fantastic review in the Richmond Style Weekly:
"Laura Thomas has a lot to say and definitely the voice for it. Her
last album, Step to the Wire, features politically charged and
introspective ballads along with jabs at President Bush's foreign
policy. She has Ani DiFranco, Alanis Morissette and Norah Jones in her sound, with a backdrop of blues and pop-rock inflections. But her voice is the main event. The Laura Thomas Band arrives in Richmond to play a benefit concert, along with Richmond's own Velvet Maria, for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America."
- On February 11, 2008, the Laura Thomas Band was previewed in the Addison County Independent: "Thomas' music is a fusion of rock, funk and jazz with lyrics that explore political and social issues as well as the complexities of love and relationships. The songs on her most recent album, "Step to the Wire," which were written while her boyfriend served in Iraq with the Army National Guard, are rife with rage at the Bush administration and compassion for military families." - The song "Hey Boy", from Step to the Wire, was chosen as the intro song for a fantastic new political video blog called "Lunch Box." A review of the new vlog says: "Although very simplistic in style and direction, there is a definite performance aspect to it that is not evident in many blogs. Green makes up for some of the less than impressive aspects of the video with his choice in music. The videos are book ended with funky intro and exit music featuring a foxy female vocalist."
- Step to the Wire received a fanastic review on the music website Bad Taste Music: "If you like artists like Carol King, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin and are a fan of cool jazzy vocals meets blues, pop and rock; you need to own STEP TO THE WIRE." Full review here.
- Laura has written a blog about the Willie Mae Rock and Roll Camp for Girls that was featured on the widely read site Huffington Post.
- "Blind Trinity," from the LTB album Step to the Wire, was featured for two weeks on Rob Millis's online news show, American Microphone.
- "Blind Trinity" was featured on the Randi Rhodes show on Air America Radio! One listener, Michael Ryan, said this: "I heard your song Trinity through a link on Operation Truth & Randi Rhodes site and was moved to tears. You have expressed well the feelings of frustration, anger, disappointment and sadness I have experienced...Bless you for sharing you thoughts and feelings so passionately!"
- Slow was reviewed by Collected Sounds. Anna Maria Stjarnell, the reviewer, says: "'Slow' is a feisty song that manages to be as strong as Ani DiFranco at her best." The entire review can be read here.
- Laura Thomas's second CD, Slow, is OUT! Buy it here!
- Slow was reviewed in the Village Voice! It got a good review from Chuck Eddy.
- Laura was also included on a compilation CD put together by Lee Brady, featuring New York artists - check out www.selectbands.com. There's some fantastic music on the CD, inluding my song "Hey Boy." More info to come...

- Washington Post - "Her voice is capable of tracing melodies as sinuous as the Rock Creek Parkway, and she has a soft spot for writing tender, compassionate or introspective ballads that help set her apart from the rant 'n' roll crowd. - Mike Joyce"
